Richard T. “Dick” Wilkins, raised in Northern
Kentucky, came to faith during college day at age 19. Later, feeling a call to
ministry, finished a degree in philosophy. He met, and married, Barbara Baugh,
of
Larchmont
,
N.Y.
; and went on to complete a theology
degree at Southern Seminary, in
Louisville
,
Ky.
He
served as pastor of two churches in Indiana before moving back to pastor
Eighteenth Street Baptist Church, in Louisville, Ky. He and Barbara have three
grown, married children; and four grandchildren.
In 1969,
he was called to pastor a church next to
Penn.
State
University-
South
Hills
Baptist
Church
. He was brought
back, in1974, to his alma mater,
U.
of
Ky.
, to be campus
minister. During those five years, the
ministry revived, and a new building was constructed. He left there, in 1979, to become pastor of
East
Hickman
Baptist
Church
;
a rural congregation about 8 miles south of
Immanuel
Baptist
Church
on
Tates Creek Road
.
He retired
from
East Hickman
in 2001, and has held
several interim pastorates. He served as a deacon. Most recently, he serves
here as Senior Adult Pastor.
